The Perfect Day

Computer Simulations become real.

"Sam1230" wakes up at 7 am as usual. He feels fresh because the partner last night was really great - although it was virtual, it felt like having a real sex with a teenager girl. Newspaper tells him everything that will happen today. It is all by computer simulation program operated by government. Thanks to technological progression, people can expect EVERYTHING. There is no danger, no possibility, no curiosity, no change. The only thing left in this world is just accuracy and expectation.
"Computer simulations become real."
This is an image of the world that came into my mind when I saw this sentence for the first time. The world dominated by computer simulations is all about accurate expectation. Every little thing of people is calculated by this program, and the results that came out are informed in public. There is no secret, no privacy. Every people knows everything about each other.
Even though it is definite that there will be a variety of changes and effects in both psychological and social aspect of the world, I came up with five ideas about "what will people do in this world?"
1. Art will be the best way of getting social and economical power in this world.
Because computer simulation program is to reproduce person's diverse experiences, so-called "User eXperience(UX)", every people can enjoy a number of these experiences in the same way. Every different experiences become the one that people can easily share together by computer program. Some experiences that were new and challenging before this generation like trying some exotic food, having sex with a stranger, or going abroad for travel become completely normal. And desire for the thing that people can not easily share together becomes the most important thing - "Emotion". Since feeling emotion can not be translated to other people by computer simulation program, emotion-based art like music, literature, play, painting, and etc becomes the main path of getting social authority.
2. People will feel more anxiety.
Computer simulations will make people choose the best solutions among all possibilities, so there will be no risk that people should take in making choices. But, of course, these best choices make contradictions in interpersonal relationships, so there must be the worst choices. In this situation, people become obssessed with making better decisions based on better simulation programs, and naturally, psychological anxiety based on contradiction and distrust arises.
3. "Digital divide" gets stronger.
At last, technology decides the rich and the poor. That is, those who have more advanced technology get superior authority in society. This phenomenon called "Digital divide" becomes serious in the future where technology is key capital, and it will be possible to imagine a society where social class is divided by ownership of modern technology.
4. Country dominates people more easily.
As mentioned already, personal privacy is eliminated because all the personal informations are completely controlled by national computer system. It will be much easier for government to manage people, and it is also possible that nationalism or communism comes back.
5. People don't move.
People don't have to move. Thanks to computer simulation program that makes everything possible, all the thing that people have to do is just lying down in a bed and turning on computers. They can eat, sleep, meet friends, work, and even go travel. Thus, people don't have to get around to do something, and for this reason, transportation system will be simplified, or even reduced.

The reason why he killed those women(including his wife and her mother) was not because he wanted some money, but because he had a distorted 'sexual fantasy'. There are three things that we should look at; 1. All victims were raped. 2. All victims were strangled with stockings they were wearing. Experts say that Kang ho-sun is likely to have 'fetishism' about women's stockings.

3. The last thing that seems quite unique about him is that he also shows great obssession about 'incendiarism'. Since 1999, he has received a large insurance money for fire accidents, and of course, all these accidents were his own work. Experts agree that habitual incendiarism is a typical characteristics of serial killers. Most killers feel a type of erotic pleasure, seeing fire burning. It's kind of sexual orgasm that they feel.

Hwa-sung Serial Murder again?

Kang ho-sun's example shows typical features of those who are obssessed with adventural sex, and recently, crimes caused by this sexual obssession are increasing day by day. 'Hwa-sung serial murder' case, which is the most infamous crime ever in Korea, even though it was more than 15 years ago, can be exactly the same case with this. 1. Unknown killer killed 10 women after raping. 2. They were all strangled with their stockings and clothes. 3. Bodies that were found later were all damaged. For example, female victim's down there was stuffed with some fruits such as peaches, apples or something. The killer had not arrested, so the case is closed now.

Why this happen?

Similar sexual crimes are increasing every year, and today, most women feel so scared and afraid of going out at night. Then, why this cruel crime happen? In my opinion, it's because of Korean closedness about sexuality. It is our culture that doesn't allow people to express their sexual fantasy and desire in public. Those who face some difficulties of satisfying sexual desire, especially men, feel pressured and stressed. Those men who get low self-esteem and adversial feeling about women can not stand their sexual desire, and express it in some abnormal ways such as sexual crimes. This problem is becoming one of Korean social problems, and it's getting serious nowadays.
